Mibro Air review: an economical, reliable watch from the Xiaomi Group

Xiaomi is known in the market thanks to its competitive range of smartphones in the Mi, Redmi and Poco series. However, the company has a lot more to offer than smartphones and is very active in the field of smart watches, smart home products, TWS devices and others. Xiaomi is hugely popular in China thanks to a wide range of products from its eco chain companies. The company is behind a popular smartwatch such as the Haylou series and has launched new products from Mibro. For those who do not know, Mibro is a brand of Zhenshi, which is part of the Xiaomi ecosystem. Zhenshi introduced  a new smartwatchThe watch was found in our hands and here are our impressions of it.

Mibro Air - packaging

The package is a small white box with an orange frame. In front we see the name and the watch. On the one hand we read about the main features of the smartwatch. In the other there is only the name. On the back there is an analysis for the model, instructions for not throwing the battery in fire etc as well as information about the manufacturer. As it is a package that goes on the shelves and the customer buys from there, it is complete with all the information one needs to decide whether to buy it. The package contains the watch, instructions in two languages (English and Chinese) and a USB cable (with magnetic charging connection) 60 cm long. On the back of the watch, there is the manufacturer's logo, sensors, two green LEDs, as well as pogo pins for connection to the charger.

Mibro Air - appearance

The Xiaomi Mibro Air Smartwatch is available in 3 color options - ours is in black, both the case and the strap. The strap is made of rubber and is very light in the hand. I would like something better in quality because it looks very cheap and does not match the look of the watch. There was a protective film on the Full HD glass touch screen as well as one on the back of the sensors which I removed when I took the watch out of the package. The set is at 40 grams and one of the lightest watches I have ever worn.

The wearable has a decent design with a round dial and has interesting specifications and features for those who want to buy a budget watch. The Mibro Air displays a beautiful 1.28 inch TFT screen. The color screen is high resolution and has a screen to frame ratio of 95%.

The watch does not have an AMOLED display, but an LCD-TFT to lower the price. Its color is rich with good animations without        "breaks" while navigating. It is quite legible in bright light or in the   dark and you will not miss any information. It has a resolution of    240 x 240 pixels. The watch also has a number of watchfaces that  allow the user to customize the look of the watch to their liking. Only 3 are saved in the watch but you can add more from the app. From the latter you can add your own watchface based on an image of your choice and a setting for the time display, through a series of options.

Mibro Air - features

As with all smartwatches, there is an emphasis on health and sports. Mibro Air offers 12 sports functions that allow you to watch activities such as cycling, tennis, running, and even a simple walk. The good thing about the watch is that it synchronizes with Xiaomi's Mi Fit app which is one of the top on the market and not some of the apps we find in this price range. At the same time it has its own application, which is not bad and does for the basic tasks of monitoring your activities, upgrades, change watchfaces, etc. It is excellent to use the standard Bluetooth 5.0 which provides a stable connection to your smartphone. Mibro Air can display notifications from apps such as Whatsapp, Messenger and Skype.

The smartwatch has a smart heart rate monitor that works with an algorithm and a sensor at the bottom of the device. It can measure even small changes while it can dynamically display data both on the watch and in the application. In the latter there is a complete history for those who want to monitor their health through a wearable. Also good work has been done in the field of sleep monitoring. The measurements are good, as compared to other watches I have at my disposal. The application does a good job here as well as it keeps a history.

The watch has simple control as in addition to the 4 traditional gestures - up-down, left-right, right-left and bottom up - there is a digital ring inside for the application menu. It is very easy to use compared to what I have seen in other watches and is inspired by the natural ring that Samsung smartwatches have. The applications on the clock are many and useful while there is also configuration for how many and what menus you want to see. I find especially useful the notification function for closures, messages and social media applications on my mobile, the notification of getting up from the work chair, the measurement of heart rate and the control of the music on my smartphone when I run.

The watch does not have a built-in GPS and any measurements on paper are made on your mobile phone and in the company's application. I will say that I did not find the measurement / placement as reliable as I would have liked. It also does not have NFC for those who use the protocol.

Mibro Air - autonomy and price

The Mibro Air comes as an economical choice from Xiaomi for those who do not want to spend a lot of money on one of its more expensive models but do not want an affordable smartband in their hands. As it has features that we find more in the latter, it shares with them exceptional autonomy. Inside there is a 200mAh battery which provides up to 10 days of continuous use and 25 days of standby. In practice, with daily running and notifications from multiple social media, it takes 3 to 4 days. It charges quite late so if you do not want to charge it at night - due to sleep measurement - it is a good idea to have the charging cable at the desk next to your computer. The connection is magnetic and easy and does not bother the holder.

The new wearable is already available in the official store at 24 euros.

Mibro Air - conclusions

The Mibro Air smartwatch is a watch with an extremely low price without degrading the basic features of such a device or its appearance. With Bluetooth 5.0, IP68 and multiple applications it is a good companion for your sports activities and a very good gift as the first smartwatch to your children!
